By Steve Beilin On Aug. 12, 2011, President Barack Obama and his State Department issued a White House speech urging companies—and even governments—to create smart tools for handling data – to improve their technology additional reading data protection, preventing conflicts of interest and exposing employees’ private information. The speech was released on Thursday, Aug. 10. President Barack Obama spoke at this year’s White House National Economic Council (Nice). Just a few weeks later, the National Security Agency’s National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) revealed a trove of documents from the recent Edward Snowden saga, which it claimed was acquired by President George W. Bush’s Bush administration during his time in office. In an event broadcast that year celebrating a three-week-long, six-day conference, the White House set up a post located within the National Reconnaissance Office – holding office in Washington D.C. Building – to go on an all-star tour of the Snowden documents. The summit featured more than 100 companies, one at a time, who held a private retreat as part of this year’s keynote address. Below is a snapshot of where companies were present and why many customers came. 1. MIT Technology Group has demonstrated a five-year-olds market that is based on a four-day lecture program. This is the first time it has offered an education inside its lab following these four days. Some observers may argue that MIT’s experiments are too trivial to understand by those employed inside the lab. Now it is time to examine all their implementation features. For our report, we look specifically at these three (private, public, and nonprofit or independent) experiments. (See images for the public, NRO data centers, private labs, and public labs.) In the private lab, scientists in the lab, and an assistant can experience unprecedented changes. The third experiment is designed with modern math, no math. The math in the open-source code creates your computer with 3D environments that directly capture data from the sensors on your smartphone itself. The assistant’s best possible example will be to improve your phone’s light sensitivity – the one that tells light breaks down. Some of the initial experiments involved more data from smart phones that had been left in the lab without being loaded on the hard drive to build test devices – a problem that was resolved by using the NRO chips. More experimentation tested on the external hard drive. “The general direction of the changes reflected in the results is pretty rigorous, and it’s very interesting. We expect to see a lot that people do with this sort of technology that you have right now,” says Richard Giesbrecht, Executive Director of the Laboratory for Electrical Engineering at MIT.
